Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted password.

Search history. We store the names of media entities you search for, the resulting scores, and timestamps. This data is linked to your account.

Payment information. If you subscribe to PressGrade Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID but never store your credit card number, CVV, or full card details. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.

Usage data. We track search counts per billing cycle to enforce free-tier limits. For guest users (no account), we use IP addresses to track monthly search counts. IP addresses are not linked to any personal identity.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the PressGrade service
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Display your search history and account information
  • Enforce usage limits on free and guest accounts
  • Improve the scoring methodology and user experience

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

PressGrade relies on the following third-party services:

  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — powers the credibility scoring engine. Search queries are sent to Anthropic's API for analysis. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of this data.
  • Stripe — processes all payments. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment information.
  • Supabase — provides database and authentication services. Data is stored in Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL databases.
  • Vercel — hosts the PressGrade application.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data and search history for as long as your account is active. Cached credibility scores are refreshed monthly and old cache entries are automatically purged.

When you delete your account, all personal data — including your profile, search history, and Stripe subscription — is permanently deleted. This action cannot be undone.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your account data and search history at any time via the Account page
  • Delete your account and all associated data permanently
  • Cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal
  • Request information about the data we hold about you

6. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted passwords, HTTPS, and secure API key management. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
